How American Odds Work
A negative price (−180) is the favourite — risk $180 to win $100. A positive price (+150) is the underdog — risk $100 to win $150. The difference between the implied probabilities is the vig (juice) the sportsbook keeps. Nebraska books typically charge a 5–8% hold on standard moneylines.
When to Use the Moneyline
Take the moneyline when you like an underdog outright and want to capture the higher payout instead of getting points. Take it on heavy favourites only when you have a strong read on the matchup — paying −400 means you only break even at a 80% win rate. In closely priced games, the moneyline often gives better value than the spread.
Three-Way Moneylines
Soccer, NHL regulation and some props use 3-way moneylines because a draw is possible. The three prices — home win, draw, away win — must each be considered separately. "Draw No Bet" is a 2-way alternative that refunds your stake if the game ends in a draw.
