LB 561 — Nebraska Sports Betting Law
LB 561 is the Nebraska statute that legalised retail sports betting in the state. Signed by Governor Pete Ricketts on May 25, 2021, it set up the framework for the four retail sportsbooks that exist today — but stripped out the original mobile-betting provisions to secure enough votes to pass.

2026 Mobile Betting Ballot Initiative
After multiple legislative attempts to legalise mobile sports betting in Nebraska have died in the state senate, supporters are turning to the ballot box. In February 2026, two voter petitions were approved for circulation. If supporters collect roughly 125,000 signatures by July 2026, a constitutional amendment will go to voters in November 2026.
