Largest Metro

Omaha

Omaha is Nebraska's largest city and home to nearly half the state's population. Retail sports betting arrived in 2024 with the opening of WarHorse Casino Omaha at the Horsemen's Park site. Many Omaha residents still cross the Missouri River into Iowa's mobile market, but the local retail option keeps growing.

WarHorse Omaha — The Local Option

WarHorse Casino Omaha is the only legal sportsbook in the metro. The current temporary facility operates at Horsemen's Park while a $200M permanent casino and sportsbook is built nearby. Both kiosks and staffed windows are offered, with the standard Nebraska menu.

The Iowa Cross-Over

Iowa has full mobile sports betting legalised statewide. Council Bluffs sits five minutes east of downtown Omaha across the river. Many Omaha bettors maintain Iowa-registered DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM accounts that they fund only when physically in Iowa — a workaround the Nebraska market has been losing money to since 2019.

Pro Sports Loyalties

Nebraska has no NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL franchise. Omaha bettors split between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos for NFL, the Kansas City Royals for MLB, and the Denver Nuggets and Chicago Bulls for NBA. Creighton basketball is huge locally but cannot legally be bet on inside Nebraska.
